Welspun Living has become one of the leading towel manufacturers in India and contributes a great deal to the country’s economy through its immense growth as a corporate entity and its emphasis on sustainable development. The company enjoys an influential position in the world of home textiles, especially in the Indian market, and its growth is only going to continue, with the commencement of construction of its upcoming textile project in Anjar.
The project, an “Integrated Bed Linens and Terry Towel” manufacturing facility, is going to be a massive boost for the economy and infrastructure in Kutch, Gujarat. A fact that is validated by the words of Mr. Bhupendra Patil, the CM of Gujarat when he inaugurated the project and laid the foundation stone at the event. During the inauguration ceremony, he praised Welspun India’s contributions to women’s employment and community welfare through its groundbreaking and impactful CSR initiatives.
Industries minister, Balwant Singh Rajput, who was also present at the event was also impressed with the project, expressing optimism and hope that the facility will go on to play a significant role in India’s journey to become a developed nation. He spoke about the Gujarat government’s textile policy, claiming it is a revolutionary initiative that facilitates women’s employment.
Welspun’s Chairman B. K. Goenka describes the project as a milestone for the Indian cotton and textile industry, predicting that it will become the world’s largest towel manufacturing facility in 18 months. In his address, he also acknowledged the support of Prime Minister Modi and the Gujarat government, highlighting their role in Kutch’s recent success and empowering Welspun Living’s initiatives in the region.
In addition to the facility’s inauguration, the presentation of the Welspun Group Excellence Awards was also a part of the event’s agenda. These awards recognise the most impactful efforts in India’s textile industry, including those from leaders, manufacturers and facilities. As part of the inaugural ceremony, the Gujarat Chief Minister toured Welspun’s state of the art facility in Anjar and observed the production process it incorporates.
Welspun's upcoming facility is poised to expand the company’s operations by a significant margin once it is completed. The purpose of this plant is to propel what is already one of the leading towel brands in India to even greater heights. As a highly anticipated infrastructure project, the facility is expected to empower the textile industry in India and contribute to the country’s economic development in the long run.
